Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art & Design)
Cardiff Metropolitan University (UWIC) and Bridgend College are delighted to announce that from 2012 the Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art & Design) will be delivered by Bridgend College in Cardiff. Utilising the expertise and experience that has made the Diploma at Cardiff School of Art & Design such a success, Bridgend College intends to foster and develop further the provision. This is exceptionally good news for a qualification that is central to the development of artists and designers from South Wales, and much further afield.

This course has an excellent reputation and a strong tradition of preparing students for further study in Higher Education in Art & Design throughout the UK.
Many of our Foundation Students progress onto Degrees within Cardiff School of Art & Design, they can then find professional positions after completing their Degree, these include:

Product Design
Critical and Contextual Studies is fully integrated to ensure a thorough knowledge of both historical and contemporary art and design; this will help you contextualise your own practice, and the visual research journals produced have proven very popular at HE interview.
There is an option of pursuing a sports activity through the Cardiff Metropolitan University (UWIC) Student Union on a Wednesday afternoon.
Foundation Studies staff are all practising artists and designers who are up-to-date with industry and Degree course needs.
